Eugene Lowell Kimball

“Dancing Again”

Eugene Lowell Kimball passed away at the home of his son, David, September 25, 2016 in Mount Ida, Arkansas, on the 12th anniversary of his wife’s passing.

He was born July 8, 1921 in Corning, Arkansas to Roy Grant Kimball and Jestine Ara Allen.

He grew up in Canon City, Colorado on a small farm and graduated from Canon City High School in 1939.  He attended Business School in Colorado Springs and then worked for Colorado Fuel and Iron Company in Pueblo, Colorado.

Eugene joined the US Navy in December 1941, and had to bring his birth certificate to prove his age, where he served as a radio operator at the US Navy Radio Station in San Francisco and on a small aircraft carrier.

He met Ruth Garner in San Francisco in 1943 at a USO dance; she gave him 5 cents to call her.  They were married in November of 1944 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  He attended Golden Gate College and received a degree as a Certified Public Accountant. They resided in San Francisco, San Mateo, Belmont and Menlo Park, California.   They moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1976.

Eugene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Mutual, Priesthood Quorums, Missionary and best job in the Church, Scoutmaster.

He is survived by his son David (Charlee); daughters Diane Jacob (John), Julie Ann; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Ime Kimball, Helen Strauss and Sheila Kimball. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, son Gary, brothers Grant, Roy Glen and Charles Wayne; sisters Letha and Wilma.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm  Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Salt Lake Memorial Mausoleum, 1001 E. 11th Ave., Salt Lake City.  Friends may visit family Sat. Oct. 1st from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. prior to graveside services. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to motherswithoutborders.org
