Eugene Arden Watson

Eugene Arden Watson passed away on October 6, 2014, at home after a short battle with cancer. Gene was born to Margretta Lamb and Arden Watson on July 16, 1937 in Lovell, Wyoming.
Gene earned a BA in Personnel Management at Utah State University and worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the Human Resource Department. He retired after 42 years of service. After retiring, Gene continued working for Hertz shuttling cars. Gene loved to sing. He was a member of the Choral Arts Society of Utah, Salt Lake Symphonic Choir and Morgan Community Choir for many years. Gene served on several boards and civic clubs including Alliance Credit Union, Uintah Highlands Water District, Home Owner Association President for The Cottages at Bear Lake and past President of Riverdale Lions Club. Gene served two missions in Eastern Canada, once at age 19 and once with his wife as a senior couple. He also had various other callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but his favorite callings were in scouting and music. Gene loved snow skiing, water sports, and was an avid Weber State University sports fan. Gene also loved coaching youth sports teams. Gene made friends everywhere and loved meeting new people.
Gene is survived by his wife, Linda Watson; sons, Michael (Christina) Watson, Farmington and Kristofer (Carol) Watson, North Salt Lake City; and daughters, Michelle (Brad) Yamashita, Farmington; Maria (Ken) Lewis, Pleasant View, Mylynn (Eugene) Felt, Calgary, AB, Canada. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Smith, Donna Moon, and Marlene Lish. He has 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Welch.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at CNS Hospice Homecare, and to all of the family, neighbors and friends for all the visits and loving support.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Utah Weber Stake Center, 5855 South Skyline Dr. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
Interment at Willard, Utah Cemetery 500 N. Highway 89.
