Eula P. Larsen
SOUTH OGDEN – Eula Poulsen Larsen, 86, died Sunday, October 18, 2009 at her home in South Ogden.
She was born February 15, 1923 in Liberty, Idaho to Clem and Martha Nielsen Poulsen. She was the seventh of twelve children. She lived in Idaho until she was 15 years old when she moved to Smithfield, Utah with her family. She attended North Cache High School.
On October 9, 1940, Eula married Leon C. Larsen in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in Logan with her husband until 1944 when Leon joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. She joined him in Norfolk, Virginia where they lived for two years. Following the war, they moved to Ogden for a short time then moved to Harrisville where they lived for 47 years and raised their four children. In 1995, they moved to South Ogden.
Eula was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings in all organizations, but mostly in the Young Women programs where she worked in dramas and musicals in her ward. She wrote and helped direct many Christmas Cantata’s.
She worked many years as a seasonal employee for the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked alongside her husband in his maintenance job.
Eula enjoyed the many school and church events that first her children, and then her grandchildren, participated in. Eula’s hobbies were sewing and quilting, but mostly spending time with her grandchildren. She loved traveling with her husband and friends in travel trailers. She also enjoyed just traveling on guided tours. Eula, Leon, and their friends spent 10 years in St. George during the winter months.
Surviving are her husband, Leon, of South Ogden; two sons and two daughters, Ron Larsen, Plain City; Larry (Linda) Larsen, Roy; Gaylene (Keith) Dabb, Plain City; Shari (Allen) Stephens, Kaysville; 25 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Eulala Petersen, Salt Lake City; and Norine Jensen, Ogden.
One daughter-in-law, DeeAnn Larsen, five brothers and four sisters, preceded Eula in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 1 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
