Eunice Judkins Hadley
September 23, 1925 ~ August 31, 2014
Our dear mother, Eunice Judkins Hadley, 88, of North Ogden passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Kindred Wasatch Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 23, 1925 in Ogden, a daughter of LeRoy and Luella Pearl Richardson Judkins.
On November 6, 1941 she married her eternal sweetheart Rich Francis Hadley in Burley, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized on December 11, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have enjoyed nearly 73 years of marriage and he will miss her deeply.
After graduating from Weber High School Mom joined Dad and they served together in the LDS East Central States Mission. They also served as missionaries in the Baguio Philippine Mission, as service missionaries in the Ogden Deseret Industries, and ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple. Mom served in many leadership positions in all of the auxiliary organizations of the LDS Church. She was always happy in her service to her family, church, friends, and neighbors. She loved and had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom had a very warm and friendly personality. Many family and friends stayed at our house when they came to visit from out of town. She was always industrious and never sat still. If she wasn’t delivering food to a neighbor in need, she was canning or bottling it for storage. She was a beautiful seamstress, amazing cook, and candy maker. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and teaching her children and grandchildren these skills. She was always making gifts for others and crocheted an afghan for each one of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed an occasional game of golf.
She belonged to many social clubs and had many friends. She always had a smile on her face. She was loved by all who knew her including those who cared for her at Wasatch Care Center. But no one loved her more than our father Rich who adored her. Dad and Mom lived most of their lives in North Ogden.
Eunice is survived by her husband, Rich; four daughters and two sons, Ruth Ann (Michael) Aylworth of West Jordan, Carolyn (John) Swallow of Syracuse, Janet (Ralph) Butler of North Ogden, Alan Rich (Sandy) Hadley of Pleasant View, Calvin Russell (Diana) Hadley of North Ogden, and Carma Jean (John) Morgan of West Jordan; 30 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Veda Ferguson and Margaret Rasmussen of Ogden, one brother-in-law, Ray Hadley of Idaho Falls, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dean Judkins; sisters, Shirley Oakey, Donna and Arma Judkins, grandchildren, Blake Arave, Roger Butler, and Jennifer Hulse.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 3 rd Ward, 386 East Elberta Dr., with her grandson, Brett Hadley officiating. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
