Eva Avondet Costley
OGDEN a" Eva Avondet Costley, 94, of Ogden, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 of causes related to age.
She was born June 17, 1913 in Burch Creek (now South Ogden), the daughter of Lami and Millie Combe Avondet.
Eva married William Dallas Costley on April 21, 1934 in Ogden.
Being raised on a farm, she learned the value of hard work and service at a young age. That lesson never left her as she grew into motherhood, teaching her children the same values.
She was a member of the Ogden First Presbyterian Church where she served faithfully in many roles. She organized the annual rummage sale for many years. She was one of the Den Mothers in Ogden''s original Cub Scout Pack.
Eva was an avid walker and hiker and could often be seen in the hills above her home. Her interests and hobbies included square dancing, gardening, sewing and quilting, and many other kinds of handwork.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Donna Costley, Westford, MA; son-in-law, R. Darrell Moss, Roy; three sisters, Elma Skanchy, Eden; Linda D''Hulst, North Ogden; Dory Right, Ogden; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Costley, her daughter, Elaine Moss, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at the Ogden First Presbyterian Church, 880 a" 28th Street.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Eva''s name to Ogden First Presbyterian Church.
