Our treasured mother, grandmother, and friend, Eva Jean Law, 83, lived a life of service to others. Eva Jean returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and older brother Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 22, 2007.
She was born January 9, 1924 in Dayton, Idaho, a daughter of Lester T. and Lola Atkinson Frew.
Eva Jean married Albert Douglas Randolph on May 23, 1945. Douglas preceded her in death on November 6, 1947. She married John Law on November 15, 1950. John passed away September 17, 1988. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Eva Jean was raised and lived in West Point most of her life. She relocated to West Haven in 2005. Eva Jean received her Nursing Diploma from the Pocatello General Hospital School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science - Nursing Education and her Master of Science - Educational Psychology, both from the University of Utah; and her Doctoral Degree in Education Psychology from Brigham Young University.
Eva Jean was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including: Gospel Doctrine teacher, Stake Sports Director, Temple worker, and was a faithful Visiting Teacher for many years.
She was appointed Director of Nursing at the Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah in 1957. She was promoted to Assistant Administrator of Nursing Services and Staff Development at McKay-Dee Hospital Center in 1971, a position she held until 1982. She ended her distinguished career after serving two years as the Assistant Administrator at the King Fahd Hospital in Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia. She retired from administration in 1985. In addition, Eva Jean served on the Clinical Auxiliary Faculties at the University of Utah and Weber State University, and was a member of the American Nurses'' Association (State and local groups). The Utah Nurses'' Association recognized her for her many contributions as "Career Woman of the Year for 1968". She received the University of Utah''s College of Nursing Alumni Association Award of Excellence in recognition of superior service to the university, the community and her profession on April 26, 1991.
Eva Jean was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed softball, skiing, golfing, playing bridge and watching most sporting events. She loved watching the Utah Jazz, and BYU and the University of Utah basketball and football. Eva Jean enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many sporting events. She loved to travel and did so extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Eva Jean had a playful spirit, a wonderful sense of humor and was a great friend. As her family, we believe she exemplified the qualities of professional women without sacrificing her commitment to family and responsibilities to her church and community. She will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the McKay-Dee Hospital Center for their loving care of our mother.
Surviving are one son and three daughters, Sandra Randolph (Gene) Dahl, Ogden; Stephen D. Randolph, Mesquite, NV; Debra Law (Chad) Stark, Hooper; Jone Law (Dale) Koford, Franklin, TN; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
