Ogden a€" Eva Rowena Rowland, 96, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Legacy House Assisted Living Center due to advanced age.

Eva was born on June 11, 1916 in Grouse Creek, Utah to John Taplin and Sarah Ellen Ballingham Betteridge, the youngest of their seven surviving children. She spent her early years in Grouse Creek and, as a young woman, moved to Ogden with her family.

She married Robert Lester Rowland on May 5, 1941 and following the completion of his military service during World War II they made their home in Ogden. Her husband preceded her in death on March 19, 2005.

Eva spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her husband and her two children. In her later years she worked as an instructor at the Ogden Spa Fitness Center and as a volunteer at the Your Community Connection thrift shop. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and, most of all, socializing with her many friends.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Judith G. (Victor) Leon of Honolulu, Hawaii; son, Robert J. (Patricia) Rowland of Beaverton, Oregon; adopted daughter and son Kathy and Jerry Lemon of East Carbon, Utah; their children and grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Boulevard.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Comfort Keepers of Ogden, Legacy House Assisted Living Community, and Aspire Hospice, for helping make Eva''s last year of life a comfortable and happy one.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) at vfw.org.
