LAYTON – Eva Faye Pierce Sykes, 69, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born February 22, 1944 in Dragerton, UT to Willard LaVar and Rosie Blackburn Pierce.
On May 4, 1963 Faye married Jerry Sykes in Layton. They were later sealed in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of three children.
Faye grew up in Dragerton, Sunnyside and Layton, UT. Jerry and Faye lived in Germany, Kansas and Washington State. Faye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she fulfilled many callings.
Faye loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her son, Brett (Donna) Sykes, daughters; Brenda (Dean) VanWeerd and Christie Sykes, brothers; Jim (LaVern) Pierce, Ralph Pierce, Oscar (Yvonne) Pierce, Fred (Shirleen) Pierce and Clyde Pierce, sister; Lola Spackman, grandchildren; Brittani (Jared) Bluemel, Emily VanWeerd, Megan VanWeerd and Danielle Hammack and great-grandson Tavin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton. Friends may visit with family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
