Eva Jean Morris Wilcox
OGDEN - Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Eva Jean Morris Wilcox passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2011 of causes incident to age.
She was born March 1, 1924 in Ogden, Utah, to Penelope and Hugh Conwey Morris. She attended Ogden High School and Weber College.
She married Milton F. Wilcox September 3, 1943 and they were sealed for eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple in 1975. They were the parents of four daughters and one son.
Eva Jean was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a gourmet cook and talented seamstress. She loved to knit and do cross-stitch and strived for perfection both from herself and those she taught. She loved numbers and excelled at the only job she had outside the home: that of cashier at Peery''s Egyptian Theater in early 1940s. Her ability to count cards made her a formidable player of bridge, hearts and gin rummy. She was determined to overcome a lifelong fear of water, and had a pool put in the backyard to learn to swim.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel that she readily shared with others. She served in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed serving others and often took dinner to families in times of need, despite her own health challenges.
Eva Jean is survived by one brother, Ted L. Morris; five children: Leslie Hegstrom, Pam (Greg) O''toole, Debra Allen, Jonathan (Cheryl) Wilcox and Lisa Wamsley; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, two brothers and one great-grandson.
Special thanks to the McKay-Dee Hospital and IHC Hospice staff for their compassion and care in the final weeks of her life.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, June 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah.
