Evangeline M. Bengoechea
OGDEN- Evangeline M. Bengoechea, passed away October 4, 2007 in West Haven, UT.
Eva was born in Mountain Home, Idaho on January 27, 1916, a daughter of Jose Bengoechea and Margarita Nachiondo Bengoechea.
She moved to Ogden, UT at the age of 10 where she lived most of her life. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Ogden. Eva studied at St. Mary''s of the Wasatch Academy in Salt Lake City after high school, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school for several years in Helper, UT then moved back to Ogden and was employed at Hill Air Force Base. She worked at the base for 31 years, retiring in the mid 1970''s.
Eva was a member of St. Joseph''s Catholic Church. She held office in the Promoters of the Sacred Heart and was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Business Women''s Organization. She was also an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). Eva donated volunteer time to the Weber County Library and McKay-Dee Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Joseph Bengoechea and Adam A. Bengoechea.
She is survived by a niece, Jolane Bengoechea-Krohn of Centerville, Ohio and two nephews, Kim Bengoechea of Union, Ohio and Adam J. Bengoechea of Sandy, UT.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church, 514 24th Street.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with the recital of the rosary to begin at 7 p.m.
