Evelyn Johnsen Call, 90, passed away July 9, 2024. Evelyn was born November 24, 1933, in Tremonton, Utah, to Melvin Alphonso and Seretta (Olsen) Johnsen. She grew up in Bear River City.
Evelyn married Terrel Call in the LDS Logan Temple on June 4, 1956. They had been together over 67 years before Terrel’s passing in January of this year.
She worked at Coleman Knitting Mill and JC Penney’s for a brief time and worked 28 years for the Ogden and Weber School Districts as a lunch manager.
Evelyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple, a missionary at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City and held many other church callings.
Mom was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mom and her dear friends had a pinochle club that lasted over 50 years. Mom was all about her family holding Sunday dinner every week, we had over 2500 Sunday dinners at her home. She loved all kinds of trips with family. She spent many years with family and friends at Lake Powell. She loved going on cruises with family. She especially loved camping and playing games with her children and grandchildren. She had sleepovers with grandchildren and hosted yearly Halloween parties, Christmas Eve dinners and Christmas day dinners and insisted that we all gather in the living room and sing Christmas songs. She was full of love and was certainly the matriarch of our family.
Evelyn leaves behind her children, Larry Call, Leonard (Sharlene) Call, Susan (Brent) Eddy, Judy (Randy) Eddy; brother-in-law, Nilo (Marilyn) Call; and sister-in-law, Maurine Call. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Terry; her great-great-grandson, Oliver; her parents; two brothers, Lee and Keith Johnsen; and one sister, Colleen Barrett.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 17th Ward Chapel. 900 West Pleasant View Drive. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
