Evelyn Candace Cheney Stoddard passed away peacefully in her home in Roy, Utah on March 22, 2023, due to cancer two weeks shy of her 80th birthday.
Daughter of Ralph and Candace Cheney, she was born April 4th 1943 in Coalville, Utah. Evelyn grew up in La Junta, Colorado and graduated from high school in 1961. Later moving to Grantsville Utah, she began her 40-year career with the U.S. Defense Department. Her job subsequently took her to Tooele Army Depot Utah, Hannah Army Base, Germany, March Air Reserve Base California, and Camp Pendleton California, where she retired in 1998. She and her family then settled in Roy Utah.
She married the love of her life, Allen Lamar Stoddard, May 25 1985 in Elko, Nevada. The marriage was later sealed, for time and all eternity, in the San Diego Temple, California September 25, 1999.
She is preceded in death by her husband Allen Stoddard, her daughter Evelyn Diane Gladden, her
brother, Ray Goodrich Cheney, and her parents. She is survived by her children: Charles David Gladden Jr., Debra Anne Carlisle, Steven Boyd Gladden, and Scott James Gladden; grandchildren Sharon Anne Zamora (Mike), Shane Carlisle, Matthew Carlisle, and Ralph Gladden; great grandchildren: Gabriel V. Zamora, Deja A. Zamora, Akira P. Zamora, and Mieka A. Zamora. Evelyn is also survived by siblings: Ralph Russell Cheney (Carrol), Mary Lee Miller,
Glenn Earl Cheney (Margaret), Lynn Wayne Cheney (Denise), and Cathy Anne Pratt (Steve).
She is also survived by her many friends and extended relatives. Special thanks for her sister Mary Miller and sister-in-law Lynnette Stoddard who provided her with loving care and support in her final weeks.
We all love you and miss you, Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Meadow Creek Ward Chapel, 3649 W 4800 S Roy, UT. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Tooele City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
