Evelyn Joy Hatch Vail passed away January 10, 2023, 86, from causes incident to age. She was born October 9, 1936, in Koosharem, Utah to Lorin Elroy and Thelma Virginia Smith Hatch. She attended Richfield High School and went on to attend Beauty School in Salt Lake City.
She later met and married her eternal companion, Dennis Alma Vail. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They went on to have six children together.
She was a devoted wife and a compassionate, supportive and loving mother.
Throughout her years Evelyn served many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of the gospel was steadfast and unwavering. She lived her life with deep compassion for her entire family, always showing empathy, love, and appreciation for any assistance she received.
She had a great sense of style and an eye for design which was reflected in her home, dress, and even the dinner table. A talented seamstress, and a fantastic cook she could create beauty out of anything. Many people were the recipients of those talents and she spread “Joy” and happiness to everyone around her. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and going to the senior center with her sister.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dennis Vail. Also, her brothers, Reldon Hatch, Shelby Hatch, and Hal Hatch. She is survived by her sister, DonnaLee Lewis; brother, Sheryl Hatch; sons, Michael Vail, Gino Vail, Adam Vail, and Daniel Vail; daughters, Christina Vail, Angela (Steven) Howard, and Denise Bell. In addition, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Clinton 4th Ward Chapel, 2223 North 1000 West. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
