Evelyn R. Wheeler
OGDEN – Evelyn R. Wheeler, 93, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at a local care center.
She was born October 18, 1916 in Valentine, Nebraska, to George and Rose Talcott White. She gained her love of music from her father, a traveling vaudeville musician.
Evelyn was married to Richard R. Lind for 25 years. They had four children together: Richard (dec.), Jenny (dec.), Linda (dec.); and Betty. She was later married to Bill Thompson for 18 years. She helped raise his seven children. After Bill’s death she married Blaine Wheeler. They were married for 33 years and shared a love of music. Evelyn sang and Blaine played the piano and organ. They were very active with the Blind Association. Blaine preceded her in death.
Evelyn loved the Lord. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings in many towns. She and her family helped establish the first branch in the Oak Harbor, Washington area.
Evelyn was happiest when she was surrounded by people.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Kauwe as well as 10 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful to the staff at Aspen Care Center for their loving service to Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 8 to 8:45 a.m.
Cremation under the direction of Lindquist’s Crematory.
