Evelyn Higgs Ward Wilding

Evelyn died in Salt Lake City on April 25, 2010. Born in Salt Lake City on August 24, 1920, seventh of eight children of Reece F. and Jessie Wright Higgs. She was involved in volunteerism all of her adult life, working mainly with schools, churches and groups interested in the welfare of children. She also volunteered for Salt Lake County Mental Health and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She served on task forces appointed by the Utah State Legislature and two Utah Governors and was the proud recipient of many national, state, county and city awards for her service. She was also a long-time member of the First Congregational Church.

Married C. Robert Ward in 1939, later divorced. Married James Albert Wilding September 30, 1995 and was reunited with his three older children, Larry, Linda and Drew, whom she had known and loved when they were young. They and their families brought great joy to her later years. Sadly, Ab died December 23, 1995.

Survived by sons Robert C. Ward (Linda), Homosassa, Florida; Gary R. Ward, Salt Lake City; Grandsons, Robert L. Ward (Julie), Salt Lake City; Jeffery P. Ward (Christina) and Great-grandson Cameron Ward; Salt Lake City; "sister" nieces, Marilyn Fairless (Doug), Martell Roberts, and Marian Hill and many other loved nieces and nephews; also by Maxine Wilding, Hawthorne, NV; Nancy Wilding, West Jordan; Linda Smith, Woodland, CA; and their families.

She is also survived by her cherished other family who has been such a vital part of her life for many years, Sally and Clint Jensen and their wonderful children.

Evelyn was truly grateful for the blessings in her life and knew that the greatest was all the loving and caring people who were part of it. Eve, Mom, Grandma, was one of the most loving people this earth has ever been blessed with and her fun and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
