Everett True Smith

Everett T. Smith of Ogden left this earth peacefully on January 2, 2018, at the age of 96.
He was born on February 12, 1921, in Mound City, Missouri, to Homer L. Smith and Goldie Marie Mozingo. He was raised in Mound City, Urbana and Bigelow, Missouri along with his five brothers and one sister. His father owned a large parcel of land and the boys would cut and sell the timber to make a living. He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Missouri River at the age of 14.
He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Signal Corps in supply and participating in the European Theatre serving mostly in Italy and Africa.
He married Gladys L. Bricker on January 1, 1947 in Urbana, Missouri. He moved to Utah in 1950 and got a job working for Farr’s Coal Company. He later went to work for Hill AFB where he retired in 1986 with 34 years of service as an electrician.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years and the company of his three dogs in his later years, Buttons, Sally, and Keisha. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need.
He lost his sweet wife (our mother) in October of 1982 and was alone for 10 years. He married again in 1993 to Flora L. Black and lost her in September of 1997. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Tingley, and all of his brothers and sisters.
He had two children, Carolyn Whetton of Ogden and Linda (Rod) Tingley of North Ogden; and one step-daughter; Virginia Leamon (deceased) of Jenkins, Missouri. He had 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.. A Celebration of life will follow the services at the home of his granddaughter, Shawan (Robert) Maier, 1039 West 2050 North, Clinton UT 84015. Food will be serviced.
