Fae R. Ward
OGDEN – Fae Rene Lythgoe Ward passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the age of 100 years old, soon to be 101 on her birthday which would have been on May 21st of this year. She was born in Morgan, Utah, the daughter of John “Jack” and Clara Edith Heines Lythgoe. They moved to Evanston, Wyoming when she was two years old and lived there until she graduated from Evanston High School in 1926. She relocated with her parents to Ogden where she lived for the remainder of her life.
On April 27, 1934, Fae married William Kimball “Kim” Ward Sr. in Ogden. They built memories Fae cherished, especially their time together golfing and enjoying all the fun activities when Kim was the “soda fountain” expert at a small pharmacy on the corner of 24th and Washington Blvd., and general manager for KLO Radio. They were the proud parents of two children, William Kimball “Kim”, Jr. and Judy Lynn Ward. He died in 1983 and their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1987.
Fae delighted when Judy would sing to her, and when Kim would drop by to beautify her yard. She was very proud of her many, many roses of all different kinds and colors. She spent many years caring for her aged mother and father whom she loved very much.
Fae was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings; her favorite being the Young Women’s Organization. She was a member of the Highland Ward.
She loved to play bridge, bowl, golf and served as President of the Ogden Golf and Country Club Ladies Association. She served in other civic and social organizations over the years.
She worked as a loan officer for First Security Bank until she retired.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Janet Smith Ward, her daughter, Judy (Kent) Williams, and former daughter-in-law, Susan Garner Ward (John) Ross. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Ward, Curt Ward, Mark (Courtney) Ward, Shelly (Shane) Parkinson, Terry (Crys) Kimber, Patty (Mike) Hayes, Rich (Aimee) Williams, John Williams, Dave (Shay) Williams and Stephanie (Tracy) Lewis; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Fae was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Kim Ward Jr., a son-in-law, Terrel Olin Kimber, and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
