FARMINGTON - Our endearing husband and father, Farrell Jay Humphreys passed away peacefully, surrounded by his five daughters and family Friday, February 25, 2011. He was born July 20, 1923 to Clifford and Sarah Humphreys in Ogden, Utah.
Farrell married our compassionate mother, Maxine Ottley on March 15, 1946 in Salt Lake City LDS Temple and had 47 happy years before Maxine passed away in July of 1993. He married Ilean Amacher, also in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1994. She helped fill the void in his life for 17 wonderful years.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in various positions including serving in bishoprics. He served in the Air Force and was a Veteran of World War II in the South Pacific. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Education from Brigham Young University. He was in various positions in Davis County Schools including a counselor at Davis High School and retired after many years as a principal at Kaysville Jr. High. He was admired by his students and faculty. His daughters have fond memories of attending his schools.
Our loving father was a world class gardener and always shared his produce with neighbors, family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, coin collecting, traveling and fishing with dear family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ilean, daughters; Coleen (Larry) Yates of Broomfield, CO, Jodi (John) Graham of West Point, Utah, April (Craig) Haslam of West Point, Utah, Margo (Alan) Woodcock of St. George, Utah, Alison (Jim) Hopkin of Salt Lake City, Utah, step children; Mark (Patty) Amacher of North Carolina, Sandy (Song) Amacher of Virginia, Grant (Gracie) Amacher of Salt Lake City, Utah, Daphne (Laird) Jenkins of Anchorage, Alaska and Alison Amacher of California, numerous grand children and great grand children, brother; Wayne Humphreys of Bountiful, Utah, and sister; Marilyn Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Maxine Ottley Humphreys and brothers; Dale and Garth Humphreys.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St. Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
