Farrest S Rudd

Farrest “S” Rudd Farrest “S” Rudd, 89, passed away on Monday May 10, 2010. He was born January 13, 1921 to Alma “S” and Eva Rebecca Simmons Rudd, the only son of three children. Farrest graduated from St. Anthony High School. He served in the Army Air Corp as a radar instructor and operator from 1942-46. After the war, he attended Utah State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Radio and Electronics. While attending USU he met and married his sweetheart, Vada Neilson, on April 9, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were together for 61 years and had six children. They lived the majority of their lives residing in North Ogden, Ut. He worked for the US Forest Service for 34 years as the Regional Communications Engineer and was in charge of the communications for the Western Region with microwave systems. Working in the great outdoors and surveying the mountain ranges for radio sites made him particularly happy. In his younger life his parents instilled in him a strong work ethic while on the family farm in Idaho that he maintained throughout his life as he provided for his family. He was a man principled in character and learned early the Law of the Harvest that his children learned from him. He was an active member of the LDS church giving a lifetime of service and especially enjoyed serving as a Temple Worker in the Ogden Temple. Farrest loved to travel, camp and fish with his family. He enjoyed telling stories and took pride in his heritage. He is survived by his six children, Paula (Charles) Beus, Hooper; Jeanette Morris, West Jordan; Clive (Robyn) Rudd, South Weber; Terry (Deborah) Rudd, Layton; Bruce (Cindy) Rudd, Syracuse; Becky (Dale) Gerratt, Hazelton, ID; 36 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Also surviving are two sisters, Marcella Robinson, Ucon, ID and Colleen Smith, Pleasant Grove, UT. Preceding him in death were his wife, Vada, on July 18, 2009, and his parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10 a.m at the North Ogden Ben Lomond 12th Ward Chapel, 3610 North 650 East, North Ogden. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
