Fay Hamblin Jacobs

“Together Again”

Fay Hamblin Jacobs, 89, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017, in Riverton, Utah.  She was born on September 19, 1927, in West Point, Utah to Emery John Hamblin and Berth Marie Paice Hamblin. She was the first of five children. She was reared and educated in Davis County, Utah, living in Clearfield most of her life. On January 26, 1949, Fay married Chariton Rigby Jacobs in the Salt Lake Temple.

Fay attended Weber State University and received her degree in elementary education graduating Magna Cum Laude. She taught school in Davis County for 20 years. Chariton passed away in 2008.

Fay was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions including primary teacher, ward librarian, and visiting teacher. She and Chariton served a mission in England from 1987 to 1989. After their mission, they served for twelve years as workers in the Ogden Temple.

Fay is survived by her children Jeff (Louise), Omaha, Nebraska; Adele (Ron) Young, Sacramento, California; Janette (Dallas) Tolman, Rexburg, Idaho; Alan (Beverley), Syracuse, Utah; Kevin (Debbie), Riverton, Utah; and Valerie (Dana) Johnson, Layton, Utah; 25 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Bert John (Darlene) Hamblin, Ogden, Utah, and sisters, Alice (Ivan) Dickson, Echo, Utah, and Ruth Jarvis, Clearfield, Utah. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Knight; brothers-in-law, Lowell Knight and George Jarvis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.  Friends and family may visit on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., South Ogden.
