Federico Avila

Federico Avila was born July 22, 1929 in Joyabaj Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. He was the son of Laureano Perez and Euseba Avila.  Federico had eight brothers and sisters who have all preceded him in death, Jose Ramiro Avila, Graciela Avila, Manuel Francisco Avila, Hortencia Avila, Oscar Perez, Manuela Avila, Jose Danilo Avila, and Roberto Perez.

In 1945 at the age of 16, Federico joined the military in Guatemala. He was honorably discharged after two years and returned to farming which he loved.  In 1976 he decided to move to El Monte, California where he went to work for Polenderprises for the next 26 years.

In 2005 he met Hilda Galvez who he was married to till his passing on July 10, 2021.

Federico leaves behind his children who live in Guatemala, Gerber Avila, Erwin Avila, Leticia Avila and Maritza Avila. He also had 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Federico was passionate about planting his tomatoes in the spring and watching Soccer on TV (Team America). Freddie will be missed by those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses who were so supportive during his illness.
