Fern Fisher Holt
Fern was born on December 14, 1914, in West Point, Utah to John I. and Bertha L. Parker Fisher.
She attended schools in Davis County, Utah, graduating from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah.
She graduated from the Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
She met and married Arthur E. Holt on June 21, 1939.
Art enlisted in the Army and they spent time in New York and Kansas before WWII, after WWII started, Art was sent to Turkey and Italy with the Army, so Fern would come back to Utah because she could not go with him.
After WWII ended, they were stationed in San Francisco, California where their son A. Bruce was born 1949.
Later, the family was stationed in Alaska and from there to Colorado Springs, CO; where Art retired as a Colonel in 1966 and they decided to make their home there. Fern was very active in the Officer’s Wives Club activities at Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Fern taught sewing and was a very accomplished seamstress. She also worked as the Manager of the Women’s Clothing Department at the Denver Department Store, in the Sewing Department of Newsteders and as a tax consultant for Home General taxes.
Fern enjoyed keeping her home and yard, was an accomplished Knitter and taught many people to knit. The items she knit were very beautiful. After Art’s passing, in August 2004, she moved into Liberty Heights Retirement Community, where she had an independent Town Home.
She died January 4, 2010 at home in Colorado Springs, CO, at the age of 95.
She is survived by her son Bruce, (Sharon) Holt, sister, Thelma F. Crook of Etna, Wyoming, numerous nieces and nephews survives her. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alton P., and Ira E. Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
She will be buried in the West Point City, Cemetery.
