Fern T. Hutchens
FARMINGTON a" Fern Tanner Hutchens, 83, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
She was born January 8, 1927 in Grouse Creek, Utah, a daughter of Valison and Harriet Douglas Tanner, where she was raised and educated.
On November 21, 1948, Fern married John Allen Hutchens. John preceded her in death in 2003.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Fern worked for the U.S. Forest Service where she retired after 30 plus years.
Her family enjoyed listening to her unique childhood, having been raised on a small ranch in Grouse Creek. She really enjoyed and loved having her family together, especially during the holidays.
Fern was an artist in painting and ceramics. She was also a talented seamstress, loved to read, and was a caretaker to many and did so unselfishly. She loved to travel in their motor-home with our Dad and kept an immaculate home.
Surviving are two daughters, Kim (James) Crowley, Farmington; Jan (Daniel) Buttars, Sandy; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Fern in death were her parents, her husband, and grandson, Brian Buttars.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 20 at 12:00 Noon at the Ogden City Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donating to a charity of your choice in loving remembrance of Fern.
