The matriarch of our family, Fern Hartley Taylor, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 in the company of her two daughters, from complications of a stroke.

She was born June 22, 1923 in Clinton, Utah, a daughter of Brigham Alma Hartley and Verna Drake Hartley. She attended Davis County Schools and graduated from Davis High.

On August 2, 1941, Fern married Junior E. Taylor, “JR”. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. They lived their entire married life in Plain City.

Fern and JR bought a 5th wheel and traveled to Yuma, Arizona as snowbirds for many years where they made many lasting friendships.

She worked at Superior Beauty and retired from DDO. She was a member of a Plain City Ladies Club for 70 years.

After JR’s passing, Fern traveled with a group of widows to Branson, Missouri for eight years.

She moved to Roy in 1986 and recently to Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton.

Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren and they have taken care of her during her last days.
