Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Fern Arlene Mobley Whitaker, 78, passed away on March 22, 2013. She was born in Ogden on September 13, 1934 to Felton and Leah Child Mobley.
She married her sweetheart, Floyd Whitaker, on May 19, 1962, and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together they had one son and three daughters. She was a loving wife and mother that filled our lives with light and laughter. She retired medically from Hill Air Force Base after a back injury, but much of the financial success the family enjoyed was due to her talent and drive with real estate.
Fern was a giant in a small body. She never sat still, and made every second count. Though she could never cure Floyd of his two left feet, her love of life was most visibly manifested in her talent for dancing.
She filled her life with the beauty of her crafts. Leaving us cherished ceramic pieces, beautiful quilts, crocheted works of art in her doilies as well as the little dresses she made for the Barbie dolls she would find abandoned in her rental homes. Through her life, she produced countless breathtaking oil paintings in all sizes. She loved flowers and kept a healthy garden around her house, often making beautiful arrangements to hang inside the house.
We find it impossible to summarize her life with words because she was our feisty, witty angel. She loved us all with all that she had until her last breath and we ache with her loss even as we wish her a happy journey to a much better place and a joyous reunion with the family members she has missed for so many years.
She is survived by her loving husband Floyd; son, Kyle (Laura) Whitaker; daughters Lori (Randy) Imes, Teri (Tom) Phelps, and Lisa (Shawn) Esplin; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wayne Mobley.
