Fern N. Wight
OGDEN - Fern Nielsen Wight, 86, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, as a result of Parkinson’s Disease and other age related illnesses. Fern was born April 6, 1922, in Malad, Idaho, to Parley Curtis and Mary Ivy Lusk Nielsen. She married her sweetheart, D. Frank Wight, over 65 years ago in the Logan Temple.
Fern was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her most choice church calling was the mission she and her husband served in Independence, Missouri as Directors of the Visitor’s Center. Fern’s greatest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her husband, D. Frank; sons, Timothy N. (JoD’Ann), Thomas N. (Karen), David Franklin, Jr. (Karen); daughter, Debora Fern (David) Cowdin; brother, Wayne Nielsen; sister, Verna (John) Darrow; sister-in-laws, Helen (Preston) Keller, MaryAlice (Don) Williams, and Betty Wight. Fern was dearly loved by her 27 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
A tribute to a most gracious lady and my dear companion: “God sent a choice daughter from His holy spheres, To dwell on this earth among her peers. She was trained well to come down to earth; Blessed with multiple gifts, even from birth. With many blessings from her Father above, She gave freely to all - faith, compassion, and love. Her callings were many, performed with great care; When Fern was needed, she was always there. She taught by example to love and obey; To always be caring and guard what you say, For we will be judged by our own behavior; This will truly bless us as we each meet our Savior.”
