FJ Parker, one of the last genuine cowboys, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by lots of family and loved ones, due to Interstitial Lung Disease. FJ was born to Jay W. Parker and Lucille A. Parker on Sept. 26, 1945, the oldest of 3 sons.
FJ had a great childhood growing up on Center Street in Bountiful. As a family they loved hunting, fishing and spending summers at Bear Lake. He loved horses from a young age. His best friend and loyal companion growing up was his horse Peanuts. He had many jobs as a kid; he delivered milk with his dad, pumped gas at Slim Olson''s and many more.
He worked for Star Brass Foundry and later operated his own business; FJ''s Welding for many years. In 1985 FJ and his lifelong friend John Parlett opened F&J Steel Fabrication. He served as President of the Company until he passed away.
He married Gayle Kerr May 28, 1964 and became a father to his two stepsons Kevin and Mike Muir, and together they had 3 children Gina, Jeff and Charise. He later met and married the "love of his life" on March 23, 1985, Shauna R. Jacobsen, and together they had 2 children Chantell and Josh. They made their home in Farmington UT.
FJ''s love and passion were horses. People would often say "he knows more than any vet I know." He had a way with horses; they loved and respected him as much as he loved them. Together FJ and his dad raised, trained and raced many Thoroughbreds. He loved hunting and was able to go on many hunting trips. The one he enjoyed most was bear hunting in the Idaho Pan Handle. FJ enjoyed life; he would often say "how did I ever get so lucky". He was a great storyteller and would make us laugh for hours telling his life adventures.
He loved his whole family, especially his kids and grandkids with all his heart. They meant the world to him along with his many, many, many good friends. FJ was a true man of his word with a heart of gold. He had a smile and a wink that would melt your heart.
He truly believed every child needed a guiding hand or deserved a second chance in life; FJ and Shauna opened up their home with a revolving door to anyone in need of his care and presence.
FJ is survived by his Wife Shauna R. Parker; Mother Lucille A. Parker; 2 Brothers Bruce Parker (Marjie), Steve Parker (Jeff); 3 Daughters Gina Adams (Patrick), Charise Holt (Todd), Chantell Parker (Cody), 2 Sons Jeff Parker (Kathy), Josh Parker (Anthony); 8 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild. Preceded in death by his Father Jay W. Parker, Grandson Cody Adams, Aunts, Uncles and Good Friends.
FJ, we deeply miss you, but know you are having one heck of a reunion in heaven.
