Florence J. Koetitz

Florence Janet Koetitz, 94, of Riverbank, California, passed away March 9, 2019, with her four surviving children close by her side.
She was born to the late Charles and Hester Dodge, November 15, 1924, in Modesto, California. Florence graduated from Oakdale Joint Union High School in June, 1942. She married her childhood sweetheart the late Lt. Col. Fredrick A. Koetitz on August 21, 1943 in Hays, Kansas. Courtesy of the United States Air Force, they traveled the world living in California, Louisiana, Virginia, Utah, Germany, England and France.
Florence was immensely proud of her large extended family that included 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her love of children drew her to be a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Florence was an accomplished church pianist and her inspirational music was a blessing to thousands over her 50 year ministry. She passed her love of music to all her children. She was a gentle and kind woman of deep faith who loved God's Word and relied on the Lord daily through prayer.
She is survived by four children: Rev. Gerald A. Koetitz, of Lincoln City, Oregon; Edward A. Koetitz, of Capitola, California; Virginia M. Fisher of Los Gatos, California and Julia L. Sjelin of Riverbank, California. Her first born, June E. Wyrick, passed away on March 22, 2012 at age 67 in Spokane, Washington. Florence is also survived by her beloved nephew, Philip Dodge, of Modesto, California. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred, on August 20, 2004.
Two Bible verses aptly sum up Florence’s earthly life: Nehemiah 8:10 “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” and 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."
Florence's life will be honored Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm followed by a short Graveside Service.
