Florence Rothey
November 15, 1914 – January 21, 2016
Florence Albright Liebert Rothey was born on November 15, 1914, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Louis William Liebert and Elizabeth Ann Jones. Their family included six children; five daughters and one son.
Florence graduated from South Side High School, in Pittsburgh, with continued medical education in nursing.
Her late husband, Lon G. Rothey Junior, and Florence were married in Cumberland, Maryland, on August 15, 1938. Following their marriage they settled in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania, and were the proud parents of two sons: Lon G. Rothey III, (Lynn Allsop of Las Vegas, Nevada), and Louis L. Rothey (Jeri Macfarlane of Ogden, Utah).
It was in the year 1947 that the Rothey Family moved to Ogden, Utah. Several new and different things happened soon after their arrival: They began an entrepreneurial venture in the restaurant business which lasted almost thirty-five years. They opened their first eatery, which became known as the “Park-N-Snack”. Their thriving little business was expanded many times over the years, and this growth constituted a name change to Rothey’s Family Restaurant.
At the time of their marriage, Lon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After moving to Utah Florence became a member of that faith. The couple’s marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Utah Temple, August 15, 1974, on their 36th wedding anniversary.
Florence peacefully passed-on to be with her husband and family at the age of 101. Her joy in life was her family. She had two sons, eleven grandchildren, and forty great-grandchildren.
All who knew Florence loved her. Granny, we will miss you!
