Floyd E. Griffis
OGDEN – Floyd E. Griffis, 85, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Aspen Care Center.
He was born on March 22, 1923 in Brady, Nebraska the son of Syrenus and Edith Richardson Griffis. Floyd was raised and schooled at the Children’s Christian Home in Holdredge, Nebraska.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific on the USS Hamblin.
Floyd married Ardyce Threlkel on May 18, 1946 in Ogallala, Nebraska. They resided in Layton for 20 years and Kaysville for the past 32 years.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Floyd was a handyman and could fix anything. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
Surviving are his wife Ardyce Griffis, Kaysville; daughters, Judy (Craig) Day, Layton; Ardyce (Dennis) Miller, Ogden; nephew, Kenny Griffis, Clearfield; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother, Clayton (Ada) Griffis, NY; one half-brother and four half-sisters.
Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Laverne, Carl, Cliff, John and one sister, Francis.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
