FLOYD DAVID MORGAN
Floyd David Morgan passed away on Friday, August 10th of causes incident to age. He spent his last few days surrounded by his beloved family.
Floyd was born on December 19th, 1938 in Ogden, UT to Lester Byron and Ida Burnett Morgan. He married his wife of nearly 60 years, Phyllis Kay Brooks Morgan, in 1958. He is survived by his wife, daughters Jenifer (John) Holbrook and Rebecca (David) Bates, sons Stacey (Kristin) and Jeffrey (Chrissy), brother Bill (Pat) Morgan and sister Sheryl (Paul) Jones, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pemmie Morgan Alsup.
Floyd had a love of learning. He was educated at Davis High, Weber State, and the University of Phoenix. He was a die-hard Dart to the very end. He proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserve. Floyd worked hard his entire life. He worked in healthcare administration and was the CEO of Davis Hospital in Layton. After retiring, he and Phyllis ran a tax business in Layton. He loved to golf, and could be found out on the course regularly with his crew of friends. He was always just a new driver or hybrid away from golf nirvana.
But these were just the things he did. Floyd Morgan wanted to be known as a man who loved and served. He was an amazing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He never missed a birthday, and his cards always had a short limerick that never failed to elicit laughter from the recipient. Once he got a cell phone, he called his children and grandchildren regularly to tell them he loved them. His grandkids have fond memories of sleepovers in grandpa’s tent eating popcorn with way too much butter, and hearing of his exploits in the Okefenokee Swamps fighting alligators and other wild animals. He never missed an important family event, even if he had to travel across the country.
Floyd loved the Lord and served Him diligently. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in a multitude of callings which he always fulfilled with great dedication. He loved sharing the gospel with others and served a mission with his wife in St. George. Floyd strove to treat everyone with respect and to be a man of great integrity. The legacy he created has left a deep impact on this world. He truly died a wealthy man.
