Fosteen Sandra Simmons Cordon

LAYTON a€" Fosteen Sandra Simmons Cordon passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 from complications of pneumonia at the age of 71. She was born on August 23, 1938 in Daisy, Georgia to Irvin J. Simmons and Ruth E. Medlin. The third daughter of a tobacco farmer, she lived a long and full life which included siblings: Joann (deceased), Thelma (deceased) and Barbara. After high school graduation she moved to Nevada where she later met and married her future husband Richard O. Cordon. They were married on June 12, 1959 and made their home in Layton, Utah. Of that marriage she had two children Richard O Cordon II (Sherry), Hooper; and Carol L. Cordon-Allred (Bruce), Layton. She and Richard later divorced in 1996.

In 2008 she received her endowment in the Bountiful Temple. She loved being a mother, and being involved in her children''s lives. She volunteered her time at Davis North Medical Center as a "pink lady" and then as manager of the gift shop. She later worked at the Aerospace Museum as the manager of their gift shop for 20 years until her health forced her to retire.

She leaves behind her two children, sister Barbara (William), 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
