Joyce Francel Harrop Allen passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 8, 2007.
She was born May 28, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Joyce and Bessie Harrop. She spent her school years in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High in 1943 where she was a drum majorette.
She married Franklin M. Purrington on March 21, 1943, they were later divorced. She married Roy Allen in 1964 in Reno, Nevada. Roy passed away in 1983.
After retiring from Hill Air Force Base, she owned an interior design business in Grass Valley, California. Upon returning to Utah she worked at Donalyn''s Draperies in Ogden and volunteered at Clearfield''s Senior Citizen Center. She was a talented seamstress and was an accomplished accordion musician. She loved to play the accordion and continued to take lessons until recently. Francel crocheted and knitted many cherished items for her children and grandchildren.
She had a soft heart and a loving person which was particularly demonstrated by her love for animals and she devoted much of her time and attention to her animal friends. It is heartening to know that she will be greeted in heaven by her animal friends that she has befriended during her lifetime.
Her children have happy memories of fishing trips to Hebgen Lake in Montana where the family learned to "bait their own hooks" if they wanted to fish.
She is survived by her two children, Lynda (Nolan) Karras, Roy; Rick (Dolores) Purrington, Clinton; one sister, Renee (Vaughn) Clifford, West Haven; ten grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
