Frances “Eileen” Wolthoff of Layton, Utah passed away on March 12, 2024. Eileen was born in Ethan, South Dakota on June 28, 1936, to Rueben and Frances Wittstruck. She married Robert “Bob” Wolthoff on February 24, 1955. Together they had four children, Connie Wolthoff, Patricia Thomas (Robert), Paula Spendlove (Greg), and Robert “Mitchell” Wolthoff.
As wife to an Air Force enlistee, Eileen lived in Washington, Okinawa, Utah, Alaska, and South Carolina. When Bob retired in 1972, he and Eileen moved the family back to Layton, Utah, having fallen in love with the area when Bob was stationed at Hill AFB.
Eileen served as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout leader when her children were young. For many years, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Layton, Utah, and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. After retiring from the Air Force, Bob started Bob’s Lock Shop in his home, and Eileen became very involved with the business, taking phone calls, scheduling his jobs, and visiting with his customers as they waited for their service to be completed. She also stayed busy managing their rental houses.
Eileen loved traveling, boasting she had been to almost all the 50 United States (she missed West Virginia). She also enjoyed camping with her family and friends, spending winters in Arizona where she met new friends, going on cruises, and traveling in Germany and Thailand.
Eileen leaves behind three children, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and her sister, Ruby Rickgauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Connie, brothers Lee and Frank, sister Betty Puepke, son-in-law Robert Thomas, and great grandson Jacob Morehead.
