Francis J. Hall

Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather Francis J. Hall passed away on June 13, 2017, from complications of a pituitary tumor. France was born on April 20, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Parley Hall and Belva Jones. He was the youngest of four children. He has one brother, Edward (Ted) and two sisters, Wilma and Eva.
France grew up in Wellsville and helped on the family farm. He graduated from South Cache High School and Utah State University where he received a Bachelors degree in Physical Education. After graduation he worked for five years as a teacher and basketball coach at Mound Fort Jr. High in Ogden, Utah where they won the city championship.
In 1966, France went to work at Hill Air Force Base as a computer programmer. He helped develop the bar code system used by the Department of Defense. He received a Masters degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology, located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
France was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, Bishop, and Regional Sports Director. France served an LDS mission to the Central States Mission.
He loved basketball and played until he was in his fifties. He also enjoyed watching his sons, daughter and grandchildren play a variety of sports. One of his most memorable experiences was playing golf with all three of his sons at the Pebble Beach Golf Course on Christmas Day.
France married JoAnn Chessmore in 1961 in the Logan temple. France was very supportive of his wife 's involvement in Family History. They went on a number of trips and family reunions to gather family records. He also supported her in her singing. France always said, “The best thing I could do for my children was love their mother.”
France is survived by his wife, JoAnn, and older sister, Wilma, and four children: Scott (Vala) Hall, Lisa (Steven) Noyce, Dave (Nicole) Hall and Ken (Nicole) Hall. He has thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Joey and Amanda Hall, Steven (Mackenzie) Noyce (Cooper and Oliver), Trisha (Tyson) Pulsipher, Jacob Noyce, Caden, Morgan, Carter, and Blake Hall, and Payton, Malin, Dallin, and Hayden Hall. Currently, two grandchildren are serving fulltime missions: Payton Hall – Saltillo, Mexico, and Morgan Hall – Columbus, Ohio. France was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister, brother, and two infant daughters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 4th Ward Chapel, 1791 N. 600 E., North Ogden, UT 84414. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Wellsville City Cemetery.
