Francis Lovato

March 9, 1934 ~ August 4, 2018

On August 4, 2018 my journey on earth came to an end in the mountains of Duchesne at the age of 84. I was born on March 9, 1934 in the small town of Consumers, Utah, the fourth child born to Richard and Lucy (Perea) Lovato.

Due to an early death of my Father, I moved to Ogden, Utah at 8 years of age. I was fortunate to have the privilege of becoming a stepson to Victor L. Mikkelsen, who raised me as his own.

I attended schools in Washington Terrace and graduated from Weber High.

I served proudly in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. My tour of duty took me to many places including one year in Nagao, Japan.  During this time, I became a member of the Judo Club. After discharge, I joined the Ogden Judo Club.

I attended Weber State College for two years which afforded me to become a Machinist.  I had the opportunity of being employed at Marquart Corp, Pamco Machine, and Hill Air Force Base, retiring with 20 years of service.

I married DeAnn Arbon on September 20, 1969 and together we had two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Leslie Lovato. I have a special son, Richard Lovato, from a previous marriage.

I loved a hard day’s work tending to my garden, playing Johnny Cash songs on my guitar, and spending time in the mountains with my family.  I will miss chasing sunsets, waterfalls, and a hot cup of coffee.

I am survived by my wife, DeAnn of 48 years; my children, Richard (Chris) Lovato, Rachel Lovato, Leslie Lovato; my grandchildren, Justin and Travis Lovato, Amber and Jonathon Howell, Andrew and Lillian Bates; and great-grandchildren, McKinley Howell and Harmony Boupha.
