FRANK LEE BARKING
1934-2018
Frank Lee Barking passed away December 25, 2018 in Bountiful, Utah, where he resided since 1960. He was born January 27, 1934, in Vici, Oklahoma, the only child of Creo Eldine Burwell and Frank Grady (Case) Barking. Frank graduated from Jal High School in Jal, New Mexico, and received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1955. He spent his working career working for Phillips Petroleum at the Woods Cross Refinery, retiring as the Technical Superintendent of the refinery after 37 years with Phillips. He enjoyed hunting, especially hunting deer; fly fishing, and tying his own flies. Frank loved photography, especially chasing the perfect bird photo or capturing a flower at just the right moment. After retirement he volunteered weekly with the food pantry at the Baptist Concern Center, and for a number of years walked most mornings at the Bountiful Cemetery with a group of friends.
He married Janice Plummer on August 29, 1953. She survives him, along with their four children: Judy Dawn Barking, Frank Lee Barking, Jr. (Deniece), Belinda Barking, and Barbara Ann Berry. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Kendall Nicholson, Casey Barking, Jennifer Berry, Janet Berry-Shreeve, and Jessica Berry; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Berry.
