Frank H. Hattori passed away at home in Ozone Park, New York, on October 26, 2024, from chronic pulmonary disease at a young age of 71. He was born to Masaye and Nobuyuki Hattori on October 3, 1953, in Ogden, Utah. Both parents are deceased. He has a sister, Cathy; brother-in-law, Dave; and brother, Glenn, all living in California. The Hattori family moved from Ogden, Utah, to West Lost Angeles, California, in the late 50s.
He graduated from the University High School in 1971, and from UCLA in 1975 with a BA in Theatre Arts. He was somewhat fluent in Japanese and Spanish.
Frank was baptized at West LA Methodist Church and was an active member at the church incorporating his theatre talents by putting on church plays for the church members.
Frank loved the theatre and knew that he wanted to move to New York to pursue a career in Theatre. In addition, he loved to travel. When he was in high school, he was an exchange student and traveled to Europe and Mexico during the summer months.
Shortly after he graduated from college he moved to New York, hoping to write screenplays or be an actor in the theatre. We were excited the day he called home to tell us that he got a part in an off-Broadway production. Unfortunately, it was not a ‘dream’ part we think he was a tree moving in the background.
In 1977, he started his 40 plus years in advertising. His first employer was Y & R Advertising and was later employed by GroupM. He loved his career in advertising and developed many close friendships.
Over the years Frank continued to travel and go on cruises to Mexico, Peru, Egypt, Caribbean, New England, and Virgin Islands. He enjoyed watching and critiquing his favorite TV show with his friends, Big Brother, Dynasty, American Idol, The Voice, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. He traveled many times to LA and Utah to visit with his family, extended family and friends. He also loved going to a casino and playing slots.
Frank was a caring and thoughtful individual and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
