Frank Emerson Murdock
August 1, 1939 ~ April 15, 2015
Frank Emerson Murdock died peacefully in his home the morning of April 15, 2015, in Ogden, Utah after a courageous battle against cancer.
Frank, known to many as “Skip” or even “Skippy,” was born in Ogden, Utah, on August 1, 1939, to Robert and Ada Murdock. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1957 and went on to study at Weber College.
Frank served in the Air Force Reserves as Airman Second Class. He achieved many things during his life, one of which was the winning of the Golden Gloves Championship.
Frank relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and then on to Austin, Texas where he enjoyed a successful 25 year career with Motorola. Upon his retirement from Motorola in Austin he returned to Ogden to enjoy his retirement years.
He devoted much of his time serving the Lord by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was always generous with his time, his love and his devotion to those around him.
Frank loved being outdoors and enjoyed most every sport that he tried. Some of his favorites were golfing, snowmobiling, and fishing with family and friends. During the winter months, he and his brother Robert were often found out on their snowmobiles, and during warmer months, he was often found on the golf course with any number of close friends. He loved going to Jackson Hole and spending time in the Grand Tetons, and during summer months, he could often be found at the Bar J Ranch Chuck Wagon, watching the Bar J Ranch Wranglers put on their show. Heck—he’d even sing along when the spirit moved him! Frank was also quite the film buff, seeing anything that caught his eye. He was quite the movie critic to boot, never shying off sharing his cinematic opinions. However, he will be most remembered for creating the Lazy M Lodge in Idaho, a favorite gathering spot for family and friends.
Frank loved life, especially the people that surrounded him. His family and friends meant the world to him. He is remembered as the father, brother, or friend that bought his sister her prom dress, bought another her first ski pass and then taught her to ski, or the father that made certain that his children and grandchildren had the opportunity to learn to golf. Frank was the man to sing along when a band played one of his favorite songs, not giving a whit if he could hit the notes or not. He was always generous with his time and love and was always there to help a friend in need. He loved his family and they loved him beyond measure, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching them play and grow.
Frank is survived by his son Matt Murdock of Pflugerville, TX; daughter Minde (Matt) Beehner of Wallace, ID; Criss (Kim) Johnston of Cedar Park, TX; daughter Nichol (Ray) Tindol of Cedar Park, TX; son Michael (LaRhonda) Murdock of Argyle, TX; daughter Rachel Murdock of Austin, TX; daughter Meagan Murdock of Miami, FL; grandchildren Jessica, Heather, and Jordan Beehner; Brook Johnston; Ayden Tindol; Caleb and Logan Murdock; brother Robert Murdock, sisters Sandra Evertsen, Kathryn Harris, and Carol Galvez; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Burns Murdock and Ada Rothey Murdock, his brother Richard Allen Murdock, and his sister Kim Annette Hansen.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
