Frank Austin Wynn
June 9, 1929 ~ December 3, 2016
Frank Austin Wynn, 87, of Ogden, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 following an extended illness. Frank was born on June 9, 1929 in Ogden to Robert Perry and Marcella Austin Wynn. After his schooling Frank enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1946, completing carpentry and primary builder schools at Port Hueneme, CA and serving with the 103rd Naval Construction Battalion. He spent two and a half years at sea or in foreign service, remaining with the navy for nearly six years before his honorable release in July of 1952.
After his military service, Frank went to work as a chef and continued for years in this capacity, which was a job that he loved.
Frank never married and had no children of his own but lived a full life of service. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Frank will be remembered for being Santa Claus throughout the years at many functions and extended family events.
Frank is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Myrna (Gayland) Archibald, Mesquite, NV; by his adoptive children, Gene “Trees” Palmer, Bill (Cindy) Palmer, and Jill (Tony) Vigil; as well as their half-brother, Larry (Kathy) Hyde; and by his many friends and fellow Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert LaGrand Wynn and Max L. Wynn; and his sweetheart of many years, Melba “Kitty” Palmer.
A memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2472, 975 Wall Avenue, Ogden, where military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 1481.
Cremation services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
