Frank Ivar Youngberg

On Wednesday, June 25, 2008, Dad''s wheels stopped for the last time.

Frank Ivar Youngberg was born January 10, 1916 in West Point, Utah to John Alfred and Matilda Laurencia Erickson Olend Youngberg.

He attended Davis High School until he joined the CC Camps to help support the family during the Great Depression.

He married his eternal sweetheart, Orene Douglas of Hooper, on November 17, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He worked as a brakeman/conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 37 years. He inherited his love of horses from his father and loved watching his quarter-horse team of Sailor and Laddie become championship chariot racers in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada.

Frank and Orene spent many winters in St. George where his wheels explored every canyon and back road. He loved new cars and used any excuse like "getting a hair cut" to buy a new one. When he could no longer drive his car, he bought a Jazzy and wore out a set of wheels as he rode the streets of West Point.

He is survived by his wife, Orene, West Point; one daughter and three sons, DeAnn (Robert H.) Dawson, Roy; Nyle Youngberg, Ogden; Val (Pam) Youngberg, West Point; and Randy (Becky) Youngberg, Logan. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly and who loved him in return. Frank is also survived by a sister, Aliene (Kenny) Simper, Murray.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.

Heartfelt thanks goes to his "other family" at the Family Tree Retirement Home where he and Orene have lived for the past two years. Thanks to the terrific staff and their families who gave him so much love. He loved them and his fellow residents.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point City Cemetery, 40 North 4000 West.

Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
