Franklin Lynn Hopkins

Franklin Lynn Hopkins passed away peacefully in Ogden, Utah on December 16, 2017. He was born on March 20, 1947 in Lawrence County, IN to Leonard William and Anna Rowena Gilstrap Hopkins. He resided in Ogden, UT the last 36 years.

He graduated from United States Military Academy Preparatory School in Fort Belvoir, VA, United States Military Academy (West Point), Purdue University with a B.S, Utah State University with an M.B.A. He most recently attended the Wasatch Cowboy Church and performed the bookkeeping and treasurer duties for the Wasatch Cowboy Church in Hooper, UT, God's Place, Ogden, UT, and attended the Canyon Road Assembly of God in Ogden, UT.  Franklin was a member of the Northern Utah Prospectors Association. He enjoyed his monthly men’s breakfast get-togethers and the group Bible study. He worked for Williams Research Corporation, Ford (Aerospace) Competition, RR Donnelley, and Peters-Revington Furniture.

His hobbies included prospecting, hiking, and going on family trips.

Franklin is survived by his wife, Sheila Hopkins, Ogden, UT; sons, Christopher Hopkins (Mary Ann), Fort Belvoir, VA; Tobin Hopkins (Jennifer), Anaheim, CA; and Brian Hopkins (Rachel), Ogden, UT; daughters, Julie Johnson (Jon), Sandy, UT and Wendy Van Dyke (Jay), Ogden, UT; 13 grandchildren, Ashley Francis, Lexis Larsen, Sydney Larsen, Thaddeus Dowdy, Sarah Hopkins, Liam Hopkins, Rebecca Hopkins, Ella Hopkins, Julian Johnson, Molly Hopkins, Mason Van Dyke, JaxonRay Johnson, and Sawyer Hopkins; three brothers, Ronald Hopkins (Brenda), Campbellsburg, IN;

William Joe Hopkins (Debbie), Leipsic, IN; and Lindy Hopkins (DeAnn), Leipsic, IN; and sisters, Rita Bowman (Gary), Bedford, IN and Debra Smith (Ed), Campbellsburg, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard William and Anna Rowena Hopkins  and his oldest sister, Lenette Guthrie.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
