Franklin Kieth Hunter
May 18, 1918~September 13, 2014
"TOGETHER AGAIN"
Franklin Kieth Hunter, 96, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at home with his son by his side.
He was born May 18, 1918 in Ogden, Utah, to Robert A. and Nondas Brown Hunter, the second of four sons. He grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools.
On September 21, 1944, Kieth married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Jennie Marie Norseth, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Ogden until moving to Roy in 1958.
Kieth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, living its teachings throughout his life. He served in the Japanese Mission in the Hawaiian Islands from 1939 to 1941. He served in numerous callings, including Sunday School Superintendent, ward clerk, gospel doctrine teacher, and home teacher, which he continued to do into his nineties.
He was a salesman for Anderson’s and Zales’s Jewelry for a few years and then worked as a salesman for Ballard Supply and Carter Wholesale Parts Distributors for 32 years. He semi-retired and started his own business, Hunter Software, from which he retired in December 2007. He enjoyed working in his yard and flower gardens and always had the most beautiful flowers, especially his roses. He loved watching football and basketball games, especially the Jazz, and shared these times with his sons. He enjoyed family barbeques, family outings, and especially looked forward to the yearly family Christmas Eve dinner. He was a man of integrity and character and taught his children by example the importance of being honest, dependable, self-reliant, and having a strong work ethic. He was strong and firm when necessary, but gentle and caring throughout his life. He was the greatest of caregivers to his wife during her illness, never complaining, and attending to her every need. He loved and missed her and looked forward to their forthcoming reunion.
Kieth is survived by his children, Sharon (Earl) Cammack, West Point; Jeanine (Greg) Hunter-Thayn, Riverton; Dr. Stephen (Lorene) Hunter, Iowa City, IA; Randy (Colleen) Hunter, West Haven; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19th at 11 a.m. at the Roy 11th Ward, 4250 South 2175 West. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Summit Hospice and Essential Care, especially Brenda and Vilma, for their kind and compassionate care of Kieth in his last days.
