Fred A. Martinez, 81, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of April 18, 2012 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on June 8, 1931 to Paul and Victoria Lucero Duran in Monavista, Colorado. He was raised in Monavista until the age of 8 when he moved to Ogden where he lived until the time of his passing.

He was a member of the Army National Guard but was never had the opportunity to serve on active duty. He married Mabel Trujillo in Ogden. They were later divorced. He married Elna "Marie" Wixom on July 17, 1954 in Evanston, Wyoming. He worked in inspections at Hill Air Force Base until retiring as a supervisor in 1983. He also served for 11 years as an Ogden City Reserve Police Officer.

Fred was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved camping and traveling. His greatest joy was being with his family.

He is survived by wife, Elna "Marie", Ogden; sons, Mike (Jana) and Tony (Tina), Roy; daughters, Peggy Glenn, Sacramento, California; Chris (Rich) Hall, Ogden; Mary (Brett) Peer, Roy; Vicky Martinez, Ogden; and Diana (Dennis) Duran, Roy; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 grandson, and 1 great-grandson.

Friends may visit family on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Cremation entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
