Fred Anthony Profaizer

July 7, 1939 ~ January 15, 2015

Fred Anthony Profaizer passed away peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, January 15, 2015. Fred was born on July 7, 1939 to Fred and Matilda Coletti Profaizer, and other than his service in the Navy in the South Pacific, lived his entire life in the Ogden area. After graduating from Ben Lomond High School in 1957, Fred, knowing he would be ultimately drafted, chose to join the Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Bennington and worked with the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 8. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Ogden where he met Judy Williams, to whom he was married on August 28, 1965. Later they were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. During this time he joined the support staff at First Security Bank and eventually worked there for 37 years in the purchasing department. Fred was raised in the Catholic Church, and later became an active member of the LDS Church. He had many leadership callings, including that of Bishop of the Ogden 50 th Ward. Later in life he served as an ordinance worker at the Ogden LDS Temple.

Fred never cared much for possessions, fame, or awards but instead cherished time with people he loved. A perfect day for Fred would have been a day with his family around him, fishing at Mirror Lake in his beloved Uinta Mountains. This past year Fred suffered from numerous health challenges, and he faced them with courage and optimism.

Fred loved being in the company of this wife, Judy; and two children, Tracie, Salt Lake City and Cindy (Dale) Roberts, Pleasant View. In addition, Fred is survived by his mother, Matilda Profaizer, Ogden; and three siblings, Pam (Curt), Fort Worth; Brent (Paulette), Las Vegas; and Don, Ogden. He will be very much missed by his three grandchildren, Tucker, Madison, and Kylie Roberts of Pleasant View.
