Fred Louis Zampedri has stopped walking the earth and is dancing with the angels. Fred passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79.

Fred was born December 15, 1933 in Salt Lake City to Fred and Camilla Iori Zampedri. He attended St Joseph''s Catholic School until the 9th grade, transferring to Ogden City Schools to play sports. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1952 and married the love of his life, Norma Lee Padgett on April 2, 1955 in Elko, Nevada.

He was employed by Swift & Company until the plant closure in 1970. He then worked for A&K Railroad and later for Western Railroad Builders until retirement. Many who worked with him called him "Fast Freddie" because he was always moving quickly to get things done.

Fred loved life, whether it was wintering with Norma in Yuma in their motorhome, golfing with lifelong friends, spending time with nieces and nephews (especially the Wendover trips), or playing host to family and friends at the Eagles Campground in their motorhome. He was the life of the party and the party will dearly miss his life.

He is survived by his wife Norma; a daughter Karin Christensen of Beaverton, Oregon; a granddaughter, Heidi Pavliska of Stockholm Sweden and her children Maximillian and Alexandra; a sister Emma Highlander of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Mario, and his sister Ruby Morris.

At Fred''s request, his body was donated to the University of Utah in hopes of finding a cure for cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice, who was so wonderful in caring for Fred in his last days. Checks may be sent to Hospice for Utah - Ogden, 5742 S. Adams Avenue Parkway, Suite C, Ogden UT, 84405.
