Freda Hansen Fischer

Freda Hansen Fischer passed away on October 3, 2010 at the age of 82 with her loving husband and family by her side.

She was born in Provo, Utah on January 26, 1928 to Charles and Erma Hansen and raised on the family farm in Springville, she was one of seven children.

She married her sweetheart, Edward Henry Fischer, on October 20, 1946 in Springville, Utah and they were later sealed for time and all eternity at the LDS Oakland Temple, in Oakland, CA.

The first 13 years of their marriage were spent in Sandusky, Ohio, where as a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she began a life of dedicated service to the church that she loved so much.

It was while living in that area that she developed a love for genealogical research which remained a passion of hers for the rest of her life.

The family then moved to Salinas, CA where spent the next 35 years. Freda was active in civic and political affairs.

Professionally she served on the Congressional office staff of the local congressman managing his district office. She assumed leadership roles in the March of Dimes, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Girl Scouts and the Republican Party. Along with genealogy she enjoyed traveling, gardening and was an accomplished painter. In 2004 they moved to Kaysville, Utah.

During her lifetime she constantly demonstrated that there was nothing that she would not undertake in the nurturing and support of her family. But of the many roles that she had, the one that she cherished the most was that of wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Ed, and her four children, David (Kathy) Fischer, Ed (Andrea) Fischer, Peggy (Bruce) Gorham, and Don (Cindy) Fischer, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two sisters Beulah and Jeannie.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:45 to 2:45 at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
