He served through World War II and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. During a leave he returned to his home in Ogden, Utah and married his love, Phyllis Mattson on September 25, 1944; the beginning of their 68 beautiful years together. Fred continued working with Farmer Brothers Coffee for 38 years in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he became the Branch Manager until his retirement in 1985. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3586 in Sugarhouse, Utah. During his many years of service with his Post he organized many activities and held several offices, including Post Treasurer for 30 years. Fred, along with Phyllis loved camping, hunting, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, and all their dogs throughout the years.
