Fredrick William Draayer, returned home to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 after a long struggle with lymphoma cancer.
Fred, son of Grace Starkey and Adrian William Draayer, was born in Clinton, Utah on February 8, 1932. He graduated from Weber High School as part of the Wrestling State Championship Team and was awarded a gold watch for being the best athlete in the State of Utah. He continued his education at Weber State and the University of Utah. While at the University of Utah he played football, basketball, he was once again a State Champion on the wrestling team; as a result he was invited to the 1952 Olympics. He then went on to teach and coach at Weber and Ogden High Schools.
Fred was sealed for all time and eternity on January 18, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple to his eternal companion, our mother and grandmother, Sharen Heaton Draayer. He was a faithful member The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fred and Sharen served in the Ogden Inner City Mission and as Stake Missionaries. He really enjoyed his time doing sealings in the Ogden Temple for 16 years.
He was a jack of all trades and was always willing to extend his knowledge and skills to help others. He was an incredible worker, self sacrificing, patient, kind and a friend to all. We will miss his happy and positive attitude.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sharen; eight children, Don, Darsie Marriott, Danice (Larry) Trimble, Craig (Susan) Hogge, Samuel Douglas, Janet (Dan) Johansen, JoLin (Ken) Painter and Dirk DaLayne; 56 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Adrian "Bud" Draayer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, DaLayne and little John, sisters Martina, Francis and LaVon (Pets), spouses, Carol Scott and Marion Billie Tracy, his children Phyllis Hogge (Mike) Warner, and Shawn (Miriam) Jensen, grandchildren Lynsee Marriott and Steven Warner.
