Frihoff Allen

November 27, 1959 — May 9, 2021

Frihoff Nielson Allen was born November 27, 1959 to Gerald and Connie (Williams) Allen, in Mesa, AZ. He is the fifth of six children.

Frihoff passed in his sleep on May 9, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. He was enjoying spending time with his siblings for a reunion.

He retired April 24, 2020 after 36 years of service as a Project Manager in the Information and Communications Department with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Corporate Offices.

Anyone who knew Frihoff could unequivocally say he lived life to the fullest. His priority was always his girls and grandchildren. His grandchildren looked forward to their “Daddoo Breakfasts” with no restrictions on what they ordered at the restaurant. He carried gum in his pocket to give “Gum Hugs” to his grandchildren. He planned “Daddoo Dates” with each one individually. Favorites were building science or craft kits and taking apart old electronics to see how they worked. He would pick them up at their school in the “Batmobile” so all their classmates could see them get in the black 4 seat Can Am Maverick ATV, then he took them for lunch wherever they chose followed by the activity of the month. He absolutely adored his three grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible going ATV riding, fishing, boating and camping. He made it a point to attend every school program and dance recital including years of attending his three daughter’s orchestra, band and dance recitals.

While in High School, he talked his dad into turning a Volkswagen into a sand rail. He took his high school sweetheart Sheri on their first date in that sand rail. He would take his firstborn daughter Candace for rides in it, strapped in with just a baby seat. He was close to his father, they took a welding class together and shared many projects. He loved working with his hands and learning how things work. He had a real love for anything aviation or space related. He began flying radio control planes in the early 80’s and built his planes from kits. He was proud of the plane he put retractable landing gear into so he could fly inverted passes across the flying field. He taught others how to fly RC planes. He was an avid water skier. He had several different boats that his family spent many hours on with trips to Lake Powell, Bear Lake and local lakes. He enjoyed his toys the most when sharing them with family and friends. Frihoff had many friends he made extra effort to spend time with in the outdoors or at individual lunch gatherings. He made each one feel like they were his best friend. He especially loved spending time with his friend Todd on their guy ride weekends exploring new trails he could later take his family on. He loved his Can-Am ATV and over the years he enjoyed getting out on his motorcycle, jet ski, boat and camp trailer. He was a big kid at heart. His last ATV ride was with Sheri in Kanab, UT. He took on the technical trails in typical Frihoff fashion driving the “Batmobile” as his grandchildren named it.

On October 11, 1979, Frihoff married his high school sweetheart, Sheri Ann Davis Allen in the Mesa, AZ temple. They had three beautiful, talented daughters bless their life, Candace Marie Allen [Danny Allen], Los Angeles, CA; Alisse McKenna Crane [Andrew Crane], Roy, UT; McKenzie Lynn Allen, West Point, UT. His three grandchildren were his world. He was Daddoo to Cambree Ann Crane, Mailey Marie Crane, Preston Marshall Crane. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Connie Allen.

An open house viewing and celebration of Frihoff’s life will be held May 22, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m., with a sharing of “True Stories” (by invitation) as Frihoff called them at 3:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, Roy, Utah 84067.

Frihoff expressed his desire to be cremated. He wanted his family and friends to remember him as vibrant as he lived his life. His wishes will be honored following the viewing. His family have chosen a beautiful spot in the West Point City Cemetery for his interment. It was particularly important to his grandchildren that the location be perfect, not too sunny or too shady.
